"Does He even like to hear my voice?"

8:07 PM

As I was rocking my youngest to sleep tonight he was overly chatty.  Let me pause here and say normally he just lies down and goes right to sleep.  For whatever reasons tonight it took him several minutes to unwind.  This is very much out of his character, my oldest son not so much.

But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it.  He very rarely gives me the pleasure of hearing his sweet voice as it lulls me to sleep while I rock.  I cannot begin to count the times I have dozed off while rocking my oldest.  I would rock and rock and rock while listening intently to his sweet coos, sounds, giggles, and little tunes he’d open mouth sing along with me.

While listening for several minutes I began to think to myself, “I wonder if this is how the Father feels about me when I catch his ear?  Does he weary of me mindlessly chattering for minutes and hours at a time?  What does he enjoy inclining his ear to?  Does he find my voice, my cries, my prayers as drudgery or a joy?  Does he really find pleasure in me?  Does he even care or is he restlessly waiting for me to hurry up and get done?”

Maybe you have asked some of the same questions.  I am coming into a place where I am unashamedly coming to him with me deepest thoughts and questions and he is responding with such tenderness and grace.  His love quenches every ounce of fear that lies hidden in the night creeping in the shadows.

Here was his response to the questions of my heart tonight.

My dove is hiding behind the rocks, behind an outcrop on the cliff.
Let me see your face; let me hear your voice.
For your voice is pleasant, and your face is lovely.”
Song of Songs 2:14 NLT

For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
Isaiah 40:28 NLT

And with this I leave you, there is nothing left to say other than NO.  No he doesn’t grow weary, NO he LOVES your voice, and your voice is lovely.  His love for you is beyond your comprehension.  He is patient and kind. Everlasting and Creator of all the earth, go ahead try if you will but one cannot measure the depth of his understanding.

Breathe Him in tonight as you lay your head to rest and exhale all of those false truths, and lies from the enemy.  Rest in Him and sleep well tonight for you are KEPT, EMBRACED, and LOVED by the KING.

May Peace be the comforter of your heart and mind tonight as His presence warms your inmost being whisper, “It’s all going to be ok.”

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Isaiah 26:3

  3. I LOVE ISAIAH 26.3 !!! I get so tired of my voice - at times I just want to silence it! To think my Father loves it....well that is like a healing balm of Gilead to my soul.
